‘My Sister Romy’ focuses on the life of my own sister, Romy, who is eighteen. She has autism, is non-verbal and has severe learning difficulties. While growing up with an autistic sibling, I realised that stigma surrounding autism and disability is extremely prevalent. Many do not realise the full extent that families who deal with autism have to go through on a daily basis. Therefore I decided to focus my major project on autism, with the hope of increasing awareness, understanding and acceptance of this disability.
