My work is based on the views our society has formed on non-human animals. I am passionate about animal rights and the environment and interested in how speciesism plays a role when we look at animals. Within my paintings, I want people to understand and have empathy for animals, to question themselves and to be moved. In my Degree Show I aim to concentrate on the contrast between my feelings about animals and way they are treated. Alongside, the ‘flower of life’ presents a decorative element which is a symbol that represents the cycle of creation and that all life and consciousness arises from one source; and so, my belief is that all living beings have the right to live.
