Using fabric, stitch-work, acrylic paint and found materials I construct artworks that tiptoe on the border between the realms of painting and installation. In recent works, I have been manipulating light in order to explore how much space a painting can occupy. This practice has been influenced through my interest in the artist Jessica Stockholder, who also challenges the traditional thoughts on what constitutes a painting. Similar to Stockholder, the painting process is an aspect of my practice that is of higher importance than the materials used. My paintings are a means to express an emotional response to critical moments in my personal life. This position for me allows the work to become interactive as an experience outside of the frame.
