My practice stems from an interest in collage, an area of study that brings in an unconscious element and often defies the rules of convention in generating a new reality. As well as manipulating materials and found images, I often rework pieces from earlier projects, re-assembling them into newly constructed forms. These collages are then developed into large paintings in oil and acrylic on canvas.

My focus lies in the gap between what the viewer first sees and how their brain interprets and translates this information. Within this gap is a possibility for manipulation through challenging colour combinations, illusion and disruption, thus causing the viewer to question what is being perceived.
