My work attempts to explore and represent the possibilities of ‘pure’ gesture and sensation within abstract painting.  Using my body as a vessel, my arm and wrist operate as an extension/elongation of the tools that I use to paint. For me, what is painted becomes a by-product of physical action. I work with a reductive gestural language, which means I use simplified gestures and different types of space within the canvas frame. I explore these possibilities through a mixture of different mediums, including, oil paint, acrylic paint, plaster of Paris and pencil.

Within the work I look at both sedentary (still) and nomad (moving) space and the relationship of how the two interact. Control and lack of control features strongly in my paintings, trying to answer the question of what can be produced both consciously and subconsciously.
