I consider myself a frustrated graphic designer. My appreciation of typography is evident and I enjoy exploiting its expressive potential, this being a major influence in my work. Design is also one of my strengths. I have always loved to draw from life and that is why I studied Illustration yet my work is mostly non-figurative, preferring instead to use symbols and metaphors rather than the literal. I do not have a style as such but find myself using the mono print process for its textural quality and have used this in my Final Major Project – a series of six book covers. My project reflects my versatility with feet in both camps. It gives me the chance to showcase my design strengths alongside my mark making and illustrative skills.
